(JUBA) – Pyramid Intercontinental Hotel in Juba has introduced a robot waitress named Ayen to help with hotel services. The robot will deliver food and drinks, assist guests with requests, and support staff during busy times.
The hotel says the robot will improve service, make work easier for staff, and give guests a new and modern experience. Ayen can move around the hotel and interact with customers using advanced technology.
Using robots in hotels is becoming more common worldwide. Hotels have used robots to deliver items to rooms, help with check-ins and give information to guests. Robots can work without breaks and handle simple tasks, allowing human staff to focus on personal service that requires attention and care.
Experts say robots can improve efficiency and service quality. They can reduce delays and help hotels serve guests faster. However, using robots can be expensive. Hotels must invest in equipment, set up the right networks, train staff, and maintain the machines.
The use of robots also affects jobs. In South Sudan, where many people work in hospitality, robots may take over some entry-level tasks. Some jobs could change, with workers focusing on technical support, maintenance, or guest relations. Others worry robots could reduce opportunities for people in a fragile job market.
Despite this, robots allow staff to spend more time on tasks that need personal attention, making service better for guests. The introduction of Ayen may show that South Sudan’s hospitality sector is starting to use technology to improve efficiency and guest experience.
