(JUBA) – President Salva Kiir Mayardit has reaffirmed that the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement is ready to engage in dialogue with other political parties as South Sudan prepares for its first national elections since independence.
The president made the comments during a meeting with SPLM Secretary General Dr. Akol Paul Kordit. He highlighted the government’s strategic focus on restoring peace and stability, while ensuring the elections take place as scheduled.
Dr. Akol confirmed that the SPLM will hold a caucus leadership meeting to discuss the current political situation and strengthen the party’s commitment to the founding values of the liberation movement.
He emphasised that dialogue with all political parties that are signatories to the Revitalised Peace Agreement is essential for building a peaceful, united, and democratic South Sudan.
Dr. Akol called on all political forces in the country to embrace dialogue as a necessary tool for national unity and the consolidation of peace.
